“Thou/Wolves in the Throne Room show in the woods of Vermont”
The Fest 10, working at Fun Fun Fun Fest, being on tour with Lemuria, seeing Despise You, and much more!
The Making of All Things Ordinary #4
Mar 19th
As soon as I decided to go to the Chicago Zine Fest, I knew I was going to have a new zine to debut there. Originally, All Things Ordinary #4 was going to be about the record label I ran for 4 years. As I was writing it into the night for a week, I realized that this was going to be much more writing than I anticipated. So at 2am on Friday, I decided to save what I had written so far for a future issue.
Soon after deciding this, I remembered that I had an issue about my family planned for the future that was basically already written. So instead of being about my old record label, All Things Ordinary #4 is a collection of letters I wrote to family members for x-mas in 2008, and a story about my mom having surgery that I wrote for a college english class in 2007. While the writings may be old, they are still fresh and relevant to me.
Last night, Alex and I went to the IPRC to do some last minute zine printing. We anticipated going there after hours, but they had extended their hours on Friday to 10pm. Despite this, we were still the only ones there besides a volunteer and a visit from Alex’s sister Webly. This was the first time I had ever hung out with her and she is pretty awesome, even if she told me that I was fucking up my own zine.
Also during the night, I had to change the toner on Stella and got a little messy. I didn’t mind because it made for a great photo for my 365 day photo project.
So I have 100 copies of ATO #1-3 to cut, fold, and staple before Alex and I leave on the Empire Builder Tuesday. On top of that, I have to finish laying out #4 and print and assemble those. I will be really busy for the next few days, but it’s because of zines and I love that.
